Purple stained fingertips from pomegranates bring back fond childhood memories for me. Growing up our next door neighbor Mrs. Pettis and I would play cards. She taught me to play Kings Corner and in the fall she always had pomegranates for me from her brothers trees. I would did into the pomegranate and dig out […]
About Robin Renken
I got this tattoo a few years ago. It’s a lyric from a Jewel song and it kind of sums everything up for me. It’s my touchstone. When I take my last breath, I want my memories to be of the kindness I’ve shown and received, everything else is inconsequential.
I believe that you can change the world one smile at a time. And that each of those smiles in contagious. I’m ready to start a virus of happiness, of inclusion.
I get great joy from Facebook. People I know post something wonderful, something new that I didn’t know or hadn’t seen. Maybe it’s art, maybe it’s science, or perhaps it’s an act of kindness. I do a little self-preservation, skimming over the negative in my feed. It’s a little “WestWorld” thing (That doesn’t look like anything to me). I am lucky and grateful that I find little of this in my feed. I am blessed with good fortune in the company I keep.
This idea of creating a space to share good ideas and stories, to maybe help someone launch an idea, is empowering to me and I hope it will be for all of you. While there is a goal and direction, it is also flexible with the ability to grow into whatever the community here finds worthy.
So join us. Share a story, maybe it is your story, or maybe someone has inspired you. Share their story! Perhaps you have an idea for making the world a little better place or you heard about an idea and want to share it and help get it out there. This is the place. Write us, share a video, float a boat!
I have always loved farmers markets and artisan markets. You get to meet people who are growing food, or creating things. It cuts out the middle man and gives the things that you purchase more meaning. You inevitably feel more a part of something. I have two bowls that I bought years ago on tour, […]
It was a little cloudy out yesterday, so I thought I would make a chowder. Saturday at the Farmers Market I picked up some fresh corn that Blue Lizard brought in from another farm near Panaca. I had a couple of summer squash, a big colorful pattypan and another, as well as onions and leeks […]
I was searching pinterest for a sexy picture of a turnip recipe (a girl can dream and dreams come true!). I found an inspiration recipe from bon appetit (you can find their version here http://www.bonappetit.com/recipe/turnips-roasted-garlic-goat-cheese-sesame) I had Japanese turnips and some beautiful radishes from Blue Lizard Farm that were looking to get dressed up! Roast […]
Last year we did an Indiegogo Campaign with Blue Lizard Farm in Caliente, NV. They were looking to raise enough money to purchase 5 new hoop houses to expand their production on their small farm and allow them to stay in business. Sadly the Campaign did not reach it’s goal, but…it increased awareness and one […]

Blue Lizard Farm is a small family farm in Lincoln Co. NV. They are 150 miles north of Las Vegas and 2500 feet higher in elevation, so it’s a little cooler in the summer and a lot colder in the winter. Lincoln County, NV probably couldn’t be any more different than Vegas. It’s almost the […]
